Organ Pipes Cactus National Monument

  LOTS of cactus.

California

Battle Creek Campground, Lassen National Forest

More big trees with incredibly dark blue sky

   Battle Creek itself

Camp Pendleton Marine Base.  This is at the O'Neil Lake Campground

Camp San Luis Obispo, the original home of the California National Guard.

Crescent City Redwoods RV Park  Actually about 4 miles north of Crescent City Redwoods RV park is a great park.  Huge trees and lots of space between campsites.

Dorabella Campground, Sierra National Forrest

It took Gail and I about 30 minutes to get the trailer stuck on some of those little concrete posts.  It took about an hour and a half for 6 helpers to get us unstuck.

Monterey Fairgrounds  The Fairgrounds campground is cheap by Monterey standards but pricey elsewhere.  $40 per night in 2009.  Most of the sites are up above the buildings and are fairly tight.  We got lucky and were assigned a spot in the overflow field which has full hookups and lots of space (at least when you are the only unit in the field).

Petaluma Coast Guard Station A strange place to find a Coast Guard Station but it has a nice, small-6 RV site-campround. All sites have concrete pad and are pull-throughs.

Pt Mugu Naval Air Station We stayed here twice, once in the central part of the campground and once along the seawall.

The beach from the campground

And along the seawall narrow spots but a great view

Vandenberg Air Force Base Some good sites

and some not so good

Yosemite Lakes Resort The good sites along the South Fork of the Tuolumne River are narrow but very nice with the river right behind the rig.  It took us four restarts to get in but we made it without hitting anything.    A beautiful, clear river
