Home Improvement 05

The first major project to be completed is our new entertainment center which was designed to look built-in, even if it was made in a shop.  Here is a picture which also shows one of our two new (matching!) chairs for comfortable TV/Movie watching.  The drawers have built-in dividers that are sized for DVD's (top right), CD's (top left), video tapes (bottom left) and half DVD and half CD (bottom right).

The second major project is to have most of the flooring downstairs replaced with a laminate flooring.  The first room to be done was the family room.

and here it is with the new rug

The breakfast room and or exercise room is the other end of the family room.

After the family room came the kitchen and dining room.  Here is the kitchen as seen from the dining room and the dining room with the unfinished living room beyond.

11/18 The floor is finished.  Here you can see the living room, the back hall, and our office.  The mess on the desk is because we are in the process of emptying the kitchen cabinets because on Monday a new team of workers will start the refacing job.

Here are some pictures showing the new cabinet fronts.  First is the guest bathroom.  The wine rack like towel holder was one of Gail's ideas.  Gave the carpenter a hard time but came out looking very nice.

This is our bathroom with our new yellow gold paint.

And here is the kitchen   This shot, taken with out the flash, shows the new, under cabinets lights.

Note: The reason the are no pictures of the peninsula is because the glass doors aren't in yet.  The glass company ordered the wrong size glass so it will be a couple of weeks before this job is finished.  This is also true of the dining room cabinet. (12/1).

(1/23) A couple of weeks turned into almost two months, in part, I suppose, because of the holidays.  But, it is finally done.

This shot shows the kitchen peninsula and the new track lighting.  Shot with the flash, it does a good job of capturing the color of the wood.

This picture does a pretty good job of showing how the cabinets look lit up from within and the under cabinet counter top lighting.  This was shot without the flash.

And here we have the dinning room hutch, also lit from within.
